You Can Now Call Me "Free"

Baptism is a key spiritual marker in someones life. To watch an individual make a public profession of their faith is so incredibly encouraging. And then to watch someone, like many of those at Cherish, do it when their family is going an entirely different direction spiritually - amazing.

Brent & Frank

In July, 30 people were baptized in Lake Victoria at Cherish Uganda. The large number of people included staff members, kids, students, and eMi construction workers who have been working on-site building our Community Learning Center.

One of our students at CHS was muslim. He was so moved by the gospel and the person of Jesus, that he accepted Christ during his time at CHS. When he found out there was a baptism set for July, he was really excited to take that step in his faith. He also wanted to not have a muslim name anymore. He asked me if he could change his name to Frank. I asked him why, and he said that he just liked that name. He then asked if I knew what it meant. I told him I didn’t, but we could look it up. We looked it up right then and there and found out that it means “free”. He looked at me and said, “That is the name I want, Frank - free.”
