Prepping for the 2020 School Year

January 19th, 2020

“Our beloved teachers (CPS &CHS) are here to train in curriculum for three days and it’s amazing to see our old teachers and new teachers attending this foundational training as they plan to prepare their Project Based Schemes of work and Project Based Lesson Plans.” - Achilles, Head of Education

The team talked about Cherish School’s core philosophy, the new vision it has for 2020 and change, a mindset of connection with students and staff beyond just the curriculum, and the idea of “why am I here? how is God using me?” instead of just feeling like a replaceable hired subject teacher.

Andrew, the Curriculum Advisor at Cherish Schools, led the team in learning about the 21st Century Skills in teaching i.e. Critical Thinking , Creativity , Communication / Conversation and Collaboration.

In addition to prepping Cherish teachers for 2020, Cherish classrooms needed some love before they could be ready for the 2020 school year. On January 22nd, we cleaned the classrooms, removed all the furnitures, and repainted the interiors for a fresh, new look!

The 3 day team training focused on vision setting and work culture ended with praise, worship, and a talk from Sam, Cherish Uganda’s Country Director.

Sam shared verses: Neh 4:1-6 and John 15:5 with a message of you can’t give what you don’t have, so we must remain in Him for our strength.

The teachers will return before the school year starts to do more preparation for their classrooms and the year. We’re very excited to see what the 2020 school year has in store!
