My Cherish Experience: MacKenzie Spillman

I recently experienced my second trip to Cherish, Uganda. I was again overwhelmed by the love and welcoming we received. One of the experiences I had was spending one morning doing laundry with the women and girls of Mazima House. The process of collecting the water from the rain barrels to scrub, rinse, wring, and hang laundry is challenging.  But the joy that the family exuded doing this every day chore made me realize that the modern conveniences we have at home don't necessarily create happiness.

I know it sounds crazy, but I really had fun doing laundry!

I would love for more people my age to experience Cherish; to have the opportunity to grow as an individual and in their knowledge of a country so completely different from our own. God used these beautiful people to teach me something that I will never forget. I sincerely hope to go back soon.
