Join the Race for Hope!

Join us this May 5th by walking or running to help spread the word of how Cherish Uganda is racing to bring hope to vulnerable families in Cherish’s community during COVID-19. When you donate $10, we'll email you your running bib to print off at home or your local printer (be safe and wear a mask when you go pick it up). If you or your kids at home need a quarantine activity - make posters and signs to carry on your walk to help spread the word!

When is the walk/run?

Giving Tuesday, May 5th!

Where?

Your neighborhood or local running trail! This walk/run is a great opportunity to get in your quarantine exercise with your family or to meet a friend for a social distance walk.

Why $10?

We've been putting together food care packages for the local families of the students we serve in Uganda. Due to Uganda's quarantine rules, many of these families have been suffering and going without meals. The amount of food in a hamper vary based on the number of people in the family (while some families have just 3 people in the home, we serve many families who have 10+ living in a home).

Each hamper feeds a family for 3 weeks and on average costs around $30/hamper. The HIV-positive students we serve need reliable meals and nutrients to maintain their health - and your $10 will help fill a hamper! You are welcome to donate more to fill an entire hamper for a large family for $30+. Donations of all sizes, big or small, helps!

Who is Cherish Uganda?

Cherish Uganda is on a mission to change the story of HIV into a story of hope. Join the race to end stigma and to bring hope to children and families in need by entering the race or becoming a monthly donor.

MORE FAQS

Why a walk/run?

You have the power to help us spread the word through your neighborhood or local running trail by walking with your running bib on! Help us spread the word by being active! How will I get my bib? Once you donate $10 or more, we'll email you your running bib(s)! You can print them at home or get them printed at an office depot.

What if there's bad weather on Giving Tuesday?

Rain check and walk or run another day! Make sure to still tag us on instagram or Facebook @Cherishuganda

What distance should I walk/run?

Whatever you feel! Isn't this the easiest race? We recommend setting a goal of the typical 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K race distances if you're feeling up to it!

Who can participate?

Anyone! All ages welcome! However, some countries and cities have restrictions on where or if you can run. Outdoor exercise has been banned in Uganda, so our Uganda friends won’t be able to join us in this race. We ask that you remain safe in your walk/run by keeping distance from others and wearing a protective face mask!
